Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Bunbury .

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

Great little event! I've been doing astro photography for about 4 years now and following Ren's recommendations found some new variables to try. It was also very satisfying to be able to assist others who were new to their cameras.

Was very good. Ren spent a lot of time explaining everything. I used manual mode 1st time since buying the camera over a year ago. Overall very happy. Will be on the lookout for future opportunities. Maybe increase the price

enjoyed the event. Only feedback I can give is that there could have been more explanation and photo examples of what was required as I was a bit confused at times. I did go home and look at websites and now have a better understanding .

Matthew introduced group to various composition rules and made great use of the natural environment to allow students to practice the rules. Approachable in wanting feedback in photos taken to ensure understanding.

Thrown a different light on portrait photography for me. The challenges given were challenging for me as this is not my usual type of photography. Mathew was a good instructor and made a pleasant day out

    PHOTOGRAPHERS
    Renier Theelen
I'm a photographer and digital artist.
My name is Ren Theelen, I live in Waroona, Western Australia

Most of my life I've had an interest in photography. With many ups and downs, loosing and regaining interest in the hobby.
The last 15 years or so have I really become more serious about my artistry. Helped along with the digital age and easy access to editing images on computers has kept the flames alive.

Although I'm interested in many types of photography and have had a go at most such as portraits, macro, flower, still life, street, my passion lies in landscapes and in particular what I call nightscape imaging. Being outside in our vast beautiful landscape and open sky helps drive my passion.

Renier Theelen is available for private bookings

    Title or Location: Rocky Point/Wyalup
Rocky Point/Wyalup is a marvellous sunset location right on our doorstep in Bunbury. The basalt rock formations provide great foregrounds and the wet sand creates great refelctions when the waves roll back through the rock channels. I had been tracking high cloud on my favourite weather sites and was convinced the sky would light up, but that belt of dense cloud right on the horizon prevented that. So this shot just before sunset had the maximum colour. When shooting into the sun I always choose

Rocky Point, also known as Wyalup in the Noongar language, is my favourite spot for seascapes in Bunbury. The basalt rocks make a wonderful foreground interest.Nikon D850 Zeiss Milvus 18mm 3-stop reverse gradISO 400 f/11 1/3rd second

Title or Location: The Clam, a spot along Bunbury's Back Beach
When I was a teenage surfer living in Bunbury, a stretch of the Back Beach between Hungry Hollow and the "Pav'' (surf life saving club pavilion) was known as The Clam. Apparently it still is.I shot this sunset at the northern edge of The Clam, about 55 years after surfing near there.Lower tide would have been better, with the rocks showing more prominently. Title or Location: Port Hedland
Roughly 200 kilometers out of Port Hedland, I was following an old, half-forgotten track that looked like it hadn?t seen a tire in years. Just the kind of place I love ? wide open, silent, with nothing but red earth and endless sky.My wife was following in her own car, keeping just enough distance to let the dust settle. We?d set out that morning chasing the promise of isolation and a bit of outback magic. And then? bang. The car gave up.No warning. One minute it was humming along, the next

Title or Location: This Still Life Photograph of "Grapes, Strawberry's and Wine" was taken in my bedroom in Orange County California.
This image is a Still Life Composition of "Berries, Wine and Grapes" that I created on a rainy day in my bedroom. I used no fancy Studio Lighting at all. My only light source was a hand-held flashlight that I kept moving rapidly. It was an experiment in Light Painting when I couldn't go outside to shoot.
